METOLAT 1299 is a silicone-free wetting and leveling agent for water based systems. It improves surface wetting and enhances leveling of low viscous systems. It provides the following properties:

• Effective in hard or soft water up to 100°C
• Effective over a wide pH range

Due to its specific composition METOLAT 285 can be either used as wetting agent or as defoamer. In aqueous, alkaline systems METOLAT 285 is used as wetting agent. It also improves substrate wetting and penetration of coatings into wood.

METOLAT 285 is also an oil free and particle free defoamer for solving special foam problems.

Properties/Applications

• Production of phosphoric acid by the wet process: METOLAT 285 is added to the reaction mix at a ratio of 0.02 - 0.05 %
• on solids weight.
• The addition of defoamer makes filtration more effective and gives a higher yield in phosphoric acid and secondary products like gypsum.
• In contrast to defoaming agents based on tall oil, AGITAN 285 causes no deposit in storage vessels.
• Quarternary ammonium compounds are mainly used in cleaning products which tend to foam.
• METOLAT 285 is a special defoamer for these products and can be used either undiluted or pre-diluted in water.
• Normally a dosage of 3 to 5 % on weight of quarternary ammonium compounds is sufficient.
• Experiments have shown that METOLAT 285 has a positive impact on microbiological behaviour of cleaning products.
• METOLAT 285 can also be used to eliminate wetting defects, caused by high levels of defoamer.
• Normal dosage ranges from 0.1 to 0.5 % on finished product.

METOLAT 288 provides excellent surface wetting without generating foam. The product is free of mineral oil and silicones. METOLAT 288 improves good wetting and increases leveling, especially in low viscosity systems.

Properties/Applications

• Ladder studies are necessary to determine optimum level. Normal dosage ranges from 0.1 - 2.0 % METOLAT 288 on finished product.
• It should be added to the water, when used in the manufacture of emulsions.

METOLAT 340 is a low foaming non-ionic wetting agent for water-based systems.
It improves substrate wetting and leveling by reduction of surface tension.

Dynamic surface tensions:
1 % at 1 Hz: 21 mN/m
1 % at 10 Hz: 34 mN/m

METOLAT® 342 is a low foaming non-ionic wetting agent for water-based systems.
It improves substrate wetting and leveling by reduction of surface tension.

1 % at 1 Hz: 29 mN/m
1 % at 10 Hz: 42 mN/m

METOLAT® 344 is a low foaming wetting agent for all common aqueous systems. The product strongly reduces the static and dynamic surface tension and improves wetting and flow, especially on substrates that are difficult to wet. It has been specially developed to increase the penetration of wood coatings.

It improves substrate wetting and leveling by reduction of surface tension.

METOLAT® 355 is a wetting agent with low foam tendencies, suitable for many aqueous systems. Due to its nonionic character METOLAT® 355 is compatible with many different raw materials with broad pH stability. It provides excellent pigment and substrate wetting. METOLAT® 355 improves pigment compatibility and leveling in emulsion paints and water reducible systems.

Properties/Applications

• Ladder studies are recommended to determine optimum levels. Normal dosage ranges from 0.1 to 0.5 % on total formulation.
• Treat levels of 1 to 3 % on solids are necessary for intense colours. METOLAT 355 can be added at any time during production.

METOLAT 362 is a non-ionic, silicone free wetting agent with low foam tendency for water based printing inks, adhesives, emulsion paints and water borne clear as well as pigmented coatings. METOLAT 362 improves substrate and pigment wetting. It shows a very broad pH stability.

The product strongly reduces the static and dynamic surface tension and improves the wetting and flow especially on substrates which are difficult to wet. METOLAT® 388 is a low foaming wetting agent which is suitable for many aqueous
and non-aqueous systems. It improves the pigment dispersion in emulsion paints
especially with pigments which are difficult to disperse.
METOLAT® 388 prevents flocculation of the particles caused by emulsifier migration
after long storage of the paint or through a mechanical or thermal shock.

Application/Properties

• METOLAT® 388 is biodegradable and is recommended specifically for environmental
  safe systems.

METOLAT® 388 R is a bio-based drop-in for METOLAT 388.

METOLAT® 388 R is a low foaming wetting agent which is suitable for many aqueous and nonaqueous
systems. It improves the pigment dispersion in emulsion paints especially with pigments which are difficult to disperse.

Application/Properties
