We are looking forward to another successful American Coatings Show April 30th - May 2nd held in Indianapolis, IN. Visit MÜNZING at Booth 1447 On Wednesday, May 1st at 3:00 p.m. MÜNZING will present 'Dispersants for silicate and high pH paints'. Silicate paints are known for their extremely durable, breathable finish on mineral surfaces. They are enjoying more widespread interest in today's sustainability-focused setting because they are naturally water-based, they are coalescent- and VOC-free, and their high pH eliminates the need for biocide. This presentation outlines the development and qualification of a new alkali-stable, high molecular weight dispersant optimized for dispersing efficiency across pigment types in both silicate and non-silicate paint formulations.

MÜNZING has entered into a groundbreaking collaboration with German AI specialist Aleph Alpha to increase its investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The collaboration with Aleph Alpha aims to make significant progress in product development to bring innovative solutions to market faster and optimize existing products and formulations in terms of sustainability. MÜNZING is being supported by adesso in the development of the AI tool. The globally active IT service provider from Dortmund is acting as an experienced implementation partner for Luminous, the multimodal AI language model from Aleph Alpha. The combined resources and extensive expertise of the companies will be used to fully utilize the potential of AI technologies. "Our joint efforts are aimed at increasing the efficiency of our products, opening up new markets and always offering our customers the best possible solution. This cooperation underlines our commitment and our claim to continuous innovation and positioning as a pioneer in the AI revolution", says Managing Director Dr. Michael Münzing, summarizing the background to the project. The cooperation, which started in August 2023, has already resulted in a prototype of the MÜNZING Intelligence Chatbot (MIC), which is being extensively tested by the application technology department. Together with adesso, MÜNZING will drive forward the development of the AI chatbot in order to successfully use it in research & development in the next step and thus be able to respond even more efficiently and precisely to individual customer requirements.

Last Monday, on April 24, we reopened the building in Salzstraße, Heilbronn as part of a beautiful celebration with many colleagues from our Abstatt and Heilbronn locations. As part of the three-year renovation phase, the building, which was originally built in 1947 after World War 2nd, was completely gutted and now shines in new splendor both inside and out. The removal of some walls has created large, bright and modern offices, meeting rooms and laboratory space, which the employees in Heilbronn were delighted to move into.

PTFE-free products move further into focus due to restrictions against PTFE. In this case study, we compared PTFE based products with eco friendly and renewable alternatives. Sign up for the virtual option and access the post-event digital proceedings of the technical presentations. Green, eco-friendly, and sustainable technology has become the future of the automotive industry, causing a significant increase in the efforts to develop electric vehicles. The fluids required for electric vehicles exhibit different foaming and air entrainment tendencies compared to traditional automotive fluids due to the difference in system chemistry, which requires different defoamer types and test methods to simulate real world application. During use of the fluid, the defoamer functions to minimize foam buildup and entrained air, which is undesirable for reasons such as reduction of lubrication and heat removal. A study of foam tendency and air entrainment in electric vehicle fluids using new lab foam test methods will be reviewed. Furthermore, the performance of various defoamer chemistries will be studied to understand the most optimal defoamer type for electric vehicle fluids.

Paper Ex was planned to be held from January 9 - 12, 2022 in Greater Noida, India. However, due to the aggravation of COVID situation the organizers now decided to postpone the exhibition. The new date has not yet been set exactly, but the venue will remain the same.

Foam In Food Production: Where Foam Evolves and How to Fight it The Webinar will take place on July 14th from 16:30 to 17:30 Foam can be a major challenge in food manufacturing. It can cause production stoppages, lead to health and safety concerns, reduce capacities and lead to product loss from overflowing containers. Unfortunately there are many substances in foodstuffs, e.g. proteins, fatty acids, polysaccharides and phospholipids that are inherently foamy. In this webinar we want to introduce the basics of why foam occurs and how to fight it. The webinar will include some hands on examples showcasing the different challenges. The webinar is planned to run 1h with a 45 min talk and 15 mins for Q&A.

Our business development manager of business unit PCA, Mr. Jörg Wollschläger, was asked to give his expert voice about smart coatings and other trends that will influence the additives market in the next years. Furthermore we contributed a technical paper about our additives in biocide-free wall paints, written by Mr. Sjören Schweizerhof, in cooperation with Ms. Yanwei Brecht-Wu and Mr. Nils Kottner from the PCA laboratory. Under the best weather conditions, the foundation stone for our new production plant for wax and polymer emulsions was laid on September 9, 2020 in the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park. From the end of 2021 MÜNZING wants to produce at Europe's largest integrated site. After a planning phase of about 9 months with the PÖRNER Ingenieurgesellschaft from Grimma, the construction works could start on August 3rd. After completion, the new plant with the latest technical equipment will produce water-based wax emulsions and other special additives such as defoamers in powder form on an area of over 20,000 m². The products are mainly used in the construction industry and for architectural paints and make a decisive contribution to improved processing and durability of plasters, exterior and interior paints on buildings.
