METOLAT 600 is a water retention agent for coating colours
Properties/Applications - METOLAT 600 is an additive designed to increase the water retention of paper coating colours. Due to its moderate thickening effect in combination with high water retention METOLAT 600 is recommended for all coating colours in which the water retention should be improved without increasing the viscosity. The effect on high shear viscosity is low. Due to its properties the product is easy and accurate to dose.

OMBRELUB CD is a very finely dispersed stable calcium stearate dispersion in water. It is easily miscible with water in all ratios. OMBRELUB CD is an excellent friction agent, which improves the glaze during the calendering process.
Properties/Applications - OMBRELUB CD can be added to the coating colour during any stage of the manufacturing process. The product is used in all kinds of pigmented coating colours:
- to improve the printability and dimension stability
- to avoid dusting and picking during the calendering- and printing process
- to optimise the runability of the calender
- to increase the flexibility of the coated top layer and to avoid the brittleness during the manufacturing process
- OMBRELUB CD has no impact on the rheological profile of the coating colour. The product has a high whiteness and does not tend to yellowing.
- In case of very low pH-values the calcium stearate may decompose.

UMBRELLIT M 40 is an aqueous mixture of chromium (III) compounds which provides very good hydrophobic results due to a substantive bonding to the fiber. UMBRELLIT M 40 is suitable for finishing cardboard, release papers or coated special papers. Properties/Applications Stock solutions of UMBRELLIT M 40 are only stable in an acid pH range. A pH value above 4.5 leads to the precipitation of chromium hydroxide, which results in a slight blue coloring and clouding. These solutions are useless. UMBRELLIT M 40 can be combined with other additives such as cationic dispersions, cationic or non-ionic starch, polyvinyl alcohol and cellulose ether. The compatibility of the components must always be tested before use. In general, the product is processed as 1 - 3% stock solution. UMBRELLIT M 40 is easy to dilute with water. Soft water is recommended. According to the current recommendation of the German legal regulations, it is permitted to use 0,45 g/m² UMBRELLIT M 40 on the surface of paper and board.
