OMBRELUB 533 is a nonionic, very finely dispersed and stable dispersion of calcium stearate in water. It is easily miscible with water at all ratios. The calcium stearate is an excellent water-repellent agent. In waterborne printing inks and external wood coatings OMBRELUB 533 is applied to increase waterproofing properties.

OMBRELUB 533 is also recommended for the manufacture of concrete building components.

Properties/Applications

• In printing inks and other coatings the optimum dosage has to be determined for every special application.
• Normal dosage in cement and concrete mixtures is 2 % OMBRELUB 533 on cement. This results in a reasonable hydrophobic effect. The concrete surface can be coated afterwards without any problems.

OMBRELUB 730 is a stable emulsion of fatty derivates. It is easily miscible with water at all ratios. In emulsion based plasters OMBRELUB 730 leads to a prolongation of open-time and a reduction of cracks. Processing properties are improved.

OMBRELUB CD is a very finely dispersed stable calcium stearate dispersion in water. It is easily miscible with water in all ratios. OMBRELUB CD is an excellent friction agent, which improves the glaze during the calendering process.

Properties/Applications

• OMBRELUB CD can be added to the coating colour during any stage of the manufacturing process. The product is used in all kinds of pigmented coating colours:
  • to improve the printability and dimension stability
  • to avoid dusting and picking during the calendering- and printing process
  • to optimise the runability of the calender
  • to increase the flexibility of the coated top layer and to avoid the brittleness during the manufacturing process

• OMBRELUB CD has no impact on the rheological profile of the coating colour. The product has a high whiteness and does not tend to yellowing.
• In case of very low pH-values the calcium stearate may decompose.

OMBRELUB MA 2 is a stable matting agent dispersion for water-based printing inks, wood coatings and other coatings. Due to its small particle size it is suitable for low wet film thicknesses. OMBRELUB MA 2 is specifically suitable to achieve semi matt effects and provides outstanding transparency. Furthermore it increases scratch and chemical resistance of the coating. In many coatings the use of OMBRELUB MA 2 leads to a soft feel touch. In contrast to many other matting agents OMBRELUB MA 2 does not have a negative effect on the performance of polyurethane thickeners.

OMBRELUB MA 4 is a stable matting agent dispersion for water-based printing inks, wood varnishes and other coatings. Due to its small particle size it is also suitable for low wet film thicknesses. OMBRELUB MA 4 is particularly suitable for achieving silk matt effects and is characterized by its excellent transparency. Due to the special silica formulation, a very homogeneous, highly efficient matting can be achieved. It also increases the scratch resistance and chemical resistance of the coating. In many coatings the use of OMBRELUB MA 4 leads to a soft-feel touch. In contrast to other matting agents, OMBRELUB MA 4 does not have a negative effect on the performance of polyurethane thickeners.

OMBRELUB RA shows a releasing effect in strippable coatings and protection varnishes based on emulsion polymers. At the same time it plastifies the coating without migration effects. Aqueous coatings which are formulated with OMBRELUB RA can be removed from all common substrates whether it be metal, glass or plastic without any problem. The release effect maintains also during storage at elevated temperature. As OMBRELUB RA is nearly colourless it can be perfectly used in clear coats and white lacquers.
